Motorola Charm (T-Mobile)

The Motorola Charm has a cute form factor and a good physical keyboard Sony VGP-BPS8 Battery but ultimately suffers from aged components and lack of power.

When you name a phone "Charm," it sure sony VGP-BPS9/B Battery as heck better work like one. In the case of Motorola's latest Android phone, the name's promise is not fulfilled. The form factor, with a BlackBerry-like look and a good physical QWERTY keyboard, has potential because no other Android phone in the U.S. looks quite like it. But the Charm's unforgivably low-resolution screen and sluggish performance make it feel dated compared to other Android offerings from T-Mobile.

Design

The Motorola Charm is an attractive little device that resembles a BlackBerry--or a Peek--with a portrait screen up top Sony VGP-BPS9A/B Battery and a physical keyboard below. It's a design that many business-minded folks like because it looks professional and emphasizes quick messaging. It feels solid in the hand, and the plastic components don't feel cheap.

With the body measuring 3.9 x 2.7 x 0.5 inches, the Charm's height is smaller than sony VGP-BPS9 battery other Android phones, but it's a little thick. It also feels slightly heavy for a small phone, weighing in at about 4 ounces. The top of the Charm features a power/standby button and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The left side features a MicroUSB port for charging and syncing, and at the top you'll find a volume rocker. A microSD card slot can be found under the back cover, and the phone comes with a 2GB card.

The back of the phone features a basically sony VGP-BPS9/S battery useless trackpad (called "Backtrack" by Motorola), which was last seen on AT&T's unimpressive Backflip. There's no real incentive to navigate using the Backtrack when you can just navigate the touch screen with your finger.

Because of the phone's compact design, it became a little hot in our hand after periods of heavy use. The Charm was uncomfortable on the side Dell Studio 17 Battery of our face after being on a call for 15 minutes. On the bright side, it could warm you up during the winter.

Display

The most disappointing aspect of the Motorola Charm is its 2.8-inch capacitive touch screen. The QVGA screen Dell Studio 1737 Battery has a dated resolution of 320 x 240p, and in turn it displays fuzzy text, muted colors, and low-grade photos and videos. There is generally nothing wrong with small screens as long as they serve a purpose, but 320 x 240p resolution is something smart phones outgrew a few years ago. The glass capacitive touch screen is very responsive and you can smoothly pinch-to-zoom on the web, but that isn't enough to make up for it being hard to read.

Keyboard

The Charm's QWERTY keyboard is comfy and responsive, Dell Studio 1535 Battery and compares favorably with BlackBerry devices such as the Bold 9700. The slightly raised plastic keys are easy to press. We sent off texts and e-mails quickly after a few minutes of practice. We wish there were a little more spacing between the keys, however, but that potential extra space is at least used by adding physical buttons for the universal inbox, camera, and universal search. Still, those buttons may have been better served being common symbols. For example, there are no physical carat keys ( "<" and ">"), nor could we find them when pressing the Symbol button. But we eventually found the missing carats when we turned on the virtual good battery keyboard. Forcing users to open the virtual keyboard at all on a device with such a small screen is frustrating, and most users will not want the hassle.

Lenovo ThinkPad T410s laptopbattery

As far as business notebooks go, the Lenovo ThinkPad T series has always received high marks for Sony VGP-BPS8 Battery excellent keyboards, TrackPoints, and performance. The latest in this line, the T410s, is the Weight Watchers version of the 14-inch T410. It's lighter and thinner, yet possesses nearly the same performance. But is it worth $1,504?

Design

Last year, Lenovo slimmed down and jazzed up the traditional ThinkPad T series design when it released the slimmer ThinkPad T400s. Now some of the most attractive elements of the T400s have made their way into the T410s,sony VGP-BPS9/B Battery including the more angular shape of the sides, and the new keyboard/LCD light layout. This new look is more evolutionary than revolutionary, but it makes the system look much more modern and attractive.

The materials used in the T410s's chassis make it more durable and stylish at the same time. The Sony VGP-BPS9A/B Battery chassis features a lid made from ABS plastic and a strong carbon-fiber reinforced plastic bottom. An internal roll cage helps protect the notebook from damage.

While the T410 measured 13.1 x 9.4 x 1.3 inches and weighed 5.2 pounds with its standard sony VGP-BPS9 battery six-cell battery, the T410s is a much lighter 3.8 pounds and only 1 inch thick, making it closer to the Sony VAIO Z than the HP EliteBook 8450p.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The T410s sports the same keyboard that we fell in love sony VGP-BPS9/S battery with on the T400s. It feature the strong tactile feel that made Lenovo famous, along with new, enlarged Esc and Delete keys.

Like most ThinkPads, the T410s features both a TrackPoint pointing stick and a touchpad. We're big fans of the TrackPoint because Dell Studio 17 Battery it's highly accurate and allows you to navigate the desktop without lifting your fingers from the home row. However, if you prefer touchpads, you'll appreciate the extremely accurate, textured surface on the touchpad. It also supports multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom and two-finger scrolls. Unlike some touchpads we've used, zooming in and out is smooth and accurate.

Heat

Throughout our testing, the T410s remained very cool to the touch. After playing 15 minutes Dell Studio 1737 Battery of Hulu video, measured 88 degrees Fahrenheit at the bottom, 77 degrees on the touchpad, and 86 degrees between the G and H keys. All are well below the T410, which exceeded 90 degrees in every area.

Display and Sound

The ThinkPad T410s' 14.1-inch LED backlit screen is available Dell Studio 1535 Battery in just one resolution: 1440 x 900 (the T410 can be purchased with a 1280 x 800-pixel screen). It offered sharp, bright images. Vertical viewing angles were limited to just a few degrees, but were decent horizontally to nearly 90 degree angles to the right or left.

While still images and games looked good on the T410s, videos were another story. Playback was smooth, but dark areas were filled VGP-BPS13B/Q with some noise and pixelation. We noticed it more when watching Star Trek VII: First Contact on Hulu than we did on a file downloaded from Microsoft's WMV HD Content Showcase.

Audio from the T410s' speakers was good for a business system. While slightly soft, there VGP-BPS13/B was adequate bass, and higher tones were well defined.

Ports and Webcam

Unlike the more spacious T410, ports are kept to a minimum Sony Laptop Battery on the T410s. The left side of the chassis contains an ExpressCard/34 slot, one USB port, and an audio in/out port. The back holds an eSATA connection, a powered USB, VGA, Ethernet, and DisplayPort. The right is empty save for the tray-loading DVD drive and Kensington lock slot.

Images were sharp and clear when using the webcam in our dimly lit living room. The video over Skype good battery was very smooth.
